One of the most eventful and exciting happenings at the ranch this year is non-horse related but is still a huge event in our lives. We are extremely proud of our eldest son Dain Robert Johnson who graduated from high school this spring. Dain has been an integral part of Belesemo Arabians down through the years both in assisting with the ranch's daily activities as well as helping keep production going. This young man is without a doubt one of our finest productions.
In keeping with the spirit of this web site and announcing great happenings, we would like to note that while Dain has been home educated for 12 years he has received the following awards: Graduated as a Summa Cum Laude Scholar, Recipient of the Bronze and Silver Congressional Awards, Who's Who in American High School students for 4 years, Governor - Capstone Boy's State, Daughters of the American Revolution Essay winner – Regional & State winner and 1 of 9 National Finalists, Idaho State Legislative Day Teen Ambassador, Musicale Honor Piano Awards & Gold Cups (4 years), Northwest Bible Quiz Team Captain. Dain has been selected as a page in the Idaho State Legislature in the spring of 2012 before heading off to further his education.
Pictured here is Dain in one of his graduation photos with his two favorite horses. His personal riding mare for many years, Belesema Velveteen (Belesemo Trad x Velvet Dawn), a full sister to Belesemo Tradition, a 3 time National AERC Champion; and Belesemo Extreme (Belesemo Obsidian x Belesema Exotica), aka “Buddy”, his favorite young stallion of the future, now residing with Carey Brock in California. As you can tell, we are very proud of this young man and wish him all the best in his future endeavors. |

Our heartiest congratulations are extended to Lyle Capps and his incredible Belesemo bred horses, Belesemo Legend (Overlook Farwa x Baskulaana) and Belesema Silvress ( Overlook Farwa x Triad Silver Tess) for participating in the 2000 mile cross country XP RIDE. This ride started May 18, 2011 in Missouri and ended in Virginia City, Nevada on July 7, 2011. Alternating back and forth between the horses - each day consisted of 50 or 55 miles ridden throughout the time of the ride. The two horses together covered 1010 miles which garnered them high placings for the Southeast Region Endurance standings also for the year.
Belesemo Legend ended up 6th in the Southeast Region Middleweight Division and Belesema Silvress ended up 7th in the same division for 2011. Congratulations on this outstanding achievement. |

2011 has had its share of heartaches also -
Kathy Ginther
1944 - 2011
Our hearts were heavy this year with the loss of dear friend, Kathy Ginther to lymphoma cancer in May. Kathy was an integral part of Belesemo Arabians down through the years, breeding and / or purchasing horses that carried the Belesemo name. Her friendship was beyond compare and we so miss her enthusiasm and encouraging personality.
Kathy participated in drill team, parading, and trail riding with her Arabian horses. Pictured below is two of her mares, Beleseam Flamaire (Belesemo Trad x Navi-a -Flame) aka "Chip" and daughter, Belesema (RD Arizon x Belesema Flamaire) aka "Charlie". Kathy loved her horses second only to her family and the photos shown below are mother/ daughter photos in every sense of the word. |

Kathy is shown here riding Chip, and her daughter, Maria Kilgro, is shown riding Chip's daughter Charlie as part of the Ada County Sheriff's Posse-ettes Drill Team. Together, mother and daughter rode mother and daughter horses and the next generation is now coming to the forefront. Maria's daughter, Helen, is shown here also riding Chip, the beginning of another generation of horse women. I'm sure Kathy is smiling down from heaven. We wil miss Kathy so much.blck bar
Our sympathies are extended to Liz Masters of Aguanga, California on the loss of her friend and companion Belesemo Tango. From trail horse and companion to 50-mile endurance horse and “Hidalgo” movie extra, this extraordinary gelding claimed Liz Masters as his devoted slave in all his adventures. Our hearts are broken with you. |
